Williams` new manager, James Vowles, said that after his transition the team should not be expected to turn into a mini-Mercedes.


Vowles will start working at Williams on February 10, replacing Jost Capito, the former Mercedes head of strategy.


I wouldn`t consider the Williams team as mini-Mercedes. Because Williams has always been an independent team with its own rights, its own history, its own heritage.


Ask anyone at Mercedes what the most important elements of a team are and they will tell you people and culture. I don`t know what the state of affairs is at Williams at the moment, but one of the main priorities will be to convey to everyone that we must work as one unit, as one team.


Of course, none of this also means that Mercedes and I will no longer collaborate in one form or another. After all, the teams collaborated even before I came to Williams. But from now on, I will have to act primarily in the interests of Williams, " Vowles said.
